The Hasidic community of New Square is in mourning after three members of the Skverer Hasidic movement were killed in a car crash Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. Monday (local time) when a van crashed into a tree in New Square, New York, causing serious injuries to those inside.

Emergency first responders were called to the scene and pulled those trapped inside from the vehicle.

Aryeh Shmuel Deutsch and his son-in-law Shlomo Birnhak died in the crash and were laid to rest Monday night in New Square.

In addition, the driver of the vehicle, who was not related to the family, was also killed in the crash.

Six other people were seriously injured in the accident, including Tzippora Deustch, 20, who succumbed to her injuries and passed away Tuesday evening.

Shlomo Birnhak’s wife, the daughter of Aryeh Shmuel Deutsch, was among those injured in Monday’s accident.

On Tuesday, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
