107 verified cases of coronavirus have been discovered since midnight on Thursday, and 226 in total in the last day, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

It added that there are a total of 3,185 active cases of coronavirus in Israel, 25 of whom are on respirators. 300 people have died so far in Israel from the virus.

More than 800 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Israel over the past week, as the daily infection rate continues to rise following the partial lifting of government restrictions.

The increase comes weeks after Israeli schools resumed studies, and numerous government restrictions were lifted on the economy and public activities.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned that if the rate of infection in Israel continues to rise, Israel would have to resume a lockdown.

He called on the public to wear masks, wash their hands, and maintain a distance between each other in public.

"The virus doesn't give up. It only respects those who respect the rules," said Netanyahu. "If you keep the rules, they will keep us."
