The government on Sunday approved the appointment of Amira Oron as Israeli ambassador to Egypt and the appointment of Bat-Eden Kate as Israeli ambassador to Turkmenistan.

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said, "I welcome the appointment of the two ambassadors. These are experienced, professional and valued diplomats, and I am convinced that they will advance the bilateral relations between the State of Israel and the countries where they will serve to significant achievements. I wish Amira Oron and Bat-Eden Kate success on the national mission in front of them.

Oron, a Middle East affairs expert, has held several positions related to Arabic communications in Israel's Foreign Ministry. She was former head of the Foreign Ministry’s Egypt desk and also served as Israel's charge d'affaires in Turkey.

Bat-Eden Kate previously served as a delegate at the Euro Asia wing of the Foreign Ministry, Deputy Head of the Israeli delegation at the Organization for Security and Co‑operation in Europe and a political adviser at the Israeli Embassy in Warsaw.
