Apple on Monday evening announced that it will close its stores in some areas around the US, in order to prevent destruction.

The company has also protected its stores with wooden boards.

"With the health and safety of our teams in mind, we’ve made the decision to keep a number of our stores in the US closed," the company said in a statement to Business Insider.

The closure will affect stores in locations where the violent riots are rampant, and will last until Sunday. It comes just a month after Apple reopened its US stores following their closure due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Over 20 US cities have instituted a curfew in attempts to stem the wave of violent rioting, vandalism, and looting which followed George Floyd's murder.
