The Directorate of Production and Procurement (DOPP), at the Israel Ministry of Defense has ordered an additional operation to air lift approximately 12 million surgical masks among other medical equipment from China to Israel
As a result of the joint efforts of the DOPP, CAL Cargo Airlines, and medical company, Sion Medical, 60 tons of protective equipment is now making its way from China to Israel on a cargo aircraft (747). This is the first of five cargo aircraft that will land in Israel in the coming days, bringing approximately 12 million surgical masks, 1.3 million N95 masks, and 1.2 million protective suits for medical staff from the factories of Sion Medical.
The equipment from China will complement the local production of tens of millions of masks ordered by the Ministry of Defense from the company's plant in Sderot (southern Israel), as well as the delivery of additional equipment flown from Mexico, for the benefit of Israel’s medical staff and security forces.
The Ministry of Defense and El Al airlines are simultaneously continuing the delivery of millions of items of vital medical equipment including masks, protective gear, ventilators and more from China to Israel. Nine El Al Dreamliner (787) aircraft have landed in Israel thus far, carrying the aforementioned equipment. El Al aircraft have been sent on additional missions in accordance with the Ministry’s directives
