British Prime Minister Boris Johnson praised the "exemplary" care he has received at St. Thomas' Hospital in London.

"I owe them my life," Johnson told his friends. "I can't thank them enough."

Earlier on Saturday, a Downing Street spokesman said Johnson "continues to make very good progress" in his recovery from coronavirus.

Johnson was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, ten days after being diagnosed with COVID-19, and on Monday evening, he was moved to the hospital's intensive care unit.

On Wednesday, his condition began to improve, and he began communicating with his doctors.

Meanwhile, UK health officials said the death toll from coronavirus has reached 9,875, a rise of 917 since Friday.
