A truck collided with a pedestrian bridge on Golda Meir Boulevard in Jerusalem Sunday, causing serious damage to the bridge. No one was hurt.

Police forces were called to the scene of the accident. Two lanes were blocked and the driver of the truck was delayed to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

The truck struck the pedestrian bridge leading to the Ramot shopping mall. The truck, which was carrying a load of large garbage cans, began to pass under the bridge and collided with it.

The police blocked Golda Meir Boulevard in both directions out of fear that the bridge could collapse. Traffic is directed to bypass roads from within the neighborhood. The bridge was also blocked for pedestrians.

The police recommend that all drivers leaving Jerusalem and entering from Givat Zeev be allowed to do so via Route 443.

Last week, a truck collided with a pedestrian bridge between the Ramat Elhanan neighborhood of Bnei Brak and Givat Shmuel. The incident ended without casualties.

In August 2017, Elihai Tadari, a 58-year-old truck driver from Holon, was killed after his vehicle collided with the same bridge between Bnei Brak and Givat Shmuel.
