A senior security official said on Friday that in his decision to withdraw the US army from Syria, American President Donald Trump "threw Israel under the wheels of an Russian army transport truck that transfers weapons to Syria and Hezbollah."
He also said, according to the news report, that outgoing US Defense Secretary James Matis had hinted to Israel that Trump would announce a withdrawal from Syria. The Israeli intelligence assessment is that following the American move the area will become a lucrative weapons transfer bonanza between the sides.
Senior US and Turkish officials told the Associated Press news agency that President Trump had decided to withdraw American forces from Syria "on his own and in haste".
According to reports, the decision was made without consultation with Trump's national security advisors or US allies and despite the opposition of all forces involved in fighting against ISIS.
