Soldier hurt in traffic accident dies of his injuries

Sergeant posthumously promoted to Sergeant First Class after succumbing to injuries sustained when he was struck by a car.

Sergeant Yarin Karovi, a 20-year-old combat soldier from Netanya, was seriously injured in a road accident near Kibbutz Mefalsim in the Gaza vicinity Wednesday, died of his injuries on Thursday.

Karovi had suffered from systemic injuries. Doctors attempted to stabilize his condition without success.

He has received a posthumous promotion to Sergeant First Class.

An investigation into the accident revealed that the soldier crossed the road from the direction of the kibbutz to the bus stop on the other side of the street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south.

Traffic accident examiners in the Lachish region continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
