US President Donald Trump called for his former lawyer to go to prison after Cohen plead guilty to perjuring himself to Congress.

"“Michael Cohen asks judge for no Prison Time.” You mean he can do all of the TERRIBLE, unrelated to Trump, things having to do with fraud, big loans, Taxis, etc., and not serve a long prison term? He makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself, and get his wife and father-in-law (who has the money?) off Scott Free. He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence," Trump wrote on his Twitter account Monday.

Last Thursday, Cohen guilty to giving false testimony to Congress about a real estate project in Russia.

The confession was made as part of a plea bargain Cohen signed with special prosecutor Robert Muller, who is investigating suspicions of Russia's illegal involvement in the 2016 presidential election.

In August, Cohen plead guilty in a separate confession to eight criminal offenses related to tax fraud, prohibited contributions to political candidates and the making of a false statement to an economic institution. He will be sentenced in about a week and a half.

Two of the offenses are related to his work with Trump. Cohen claimed that he paid money to women in 2016 on Trump's orders to silence their claims about relationships with him.
