Egyptian President Abd al-Fatah al-Sisi and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas met Saturday in Sharm el-Sheikh in the Sinai Peninsula.

The two discussed regional developments and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The visit comes after Abbas refused to meet with the head of Egyptian intelligence in Ramallah a few weeks ago.

Earlier in the day, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that Egypt had formulated a draft of understandings between Hamas and Israel.

According to the report, Egypt will act to carry out a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas. In addition, a package of benefits will be set up, increasing fishing areas to a distance of 14 nautical miles, and opening crossings regularly.
