Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will deliver a speech to the nation Monday evening informing Israel's citizens on a significant development regarding the Iran nuclear agreement, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The speech will be delivered at 8:00 PM Israel time, or 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.

The announcement will follow the convening of the Security Cabinet for an emergency meeting Monday. During the emergency meeting, the Prime Minister informed the Cabinet ministers of the contents of the speech which he plans to deliver tonight.

The Prime Minister's Office announced that due to the speech, Netanyahu would not attend the special session in honor of Herzl Day tonight. Tourism Minister Yariv Levin will speak in his place.

Talks between Israel and the United States over the nuclear agreement have accelerated in recent days ahead of President Trump's decision in the coming days to continue to remain in the nuclear agreement or to withdraw from the agreement. Trump's decision is expected by May 12.

A political source told Arutz Sheva that the Security Cabinet meeting followed the meeting between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday and the telephone conversation between Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump over the last 24 hours.

The source clarified that there was no connection between the explosions in Syria last night, which Iran blamed on Israel. "We have nothing to do with the Iranian accusations," he added.
