Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said at the opening of today's Likud faction meeting that in his upcoming trip to the United States he will thank President Trump for moving the embassy to Jerusalem ahead of Independence Day.

"On Saturday night I leave for the United States for two purposes that we constantly work to advance. One is strengthening Jerusalem and the other is strengthening the State of Israel's security," Netanyahu said.

"Of course I will personally thank President Trump, on your behalf and on behalf of the entire nation, for the historic decision to transfer the embassy for Israel's 70th birthday, and I think it deserves all our appreciation," the Prime Minister added.

"I am convinced that it's only a matter of time before other countries join this important move by the United States," Netanyahu said.

He referred to another issue he intends to raise in meeting with the American President. "I'll talk to President Trump and tell him that we must also make decisions on the Iranian nuclear program, and I will talk to him about how we can prevent Iran from continuing its aggression in the region, a goal which is important to the US, Israel, and world peace."
