Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman (Yisrael Beytenu) confirmed Monday that the targets hit by IDF forces overnight included a terror tunnel running from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip to Israel.

Following rocket fire from Gaza into Israel Sunday evening, Israeli forces struck Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

"The IDF will continue to act in order to ensure security for the citizens of Israel, by all means at its disposal. Hamas is responsible for everything happening inside and outside of the Gaza Strip, above and below the ground," the IDF Spokesman said.

The targets included what the IDF termed “underground infrastructure”.

During a Yisrael Beytenu faction meeting on Monday, Liberman revealed that the infrastructure targeted was in fact a terror tunnel, used to transfer equipment and terrorists across the border.

“We destroyed a terror tunnel overnight near the Kerem Shalom crossing,” Liberman said.

“[Last night’s] events prove that the IDF is always prepared to respond in real-time. That is not an easy thing to achieve.”
