Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Welfare Minister Haim Katz agreed to increase the disabled allowance budget by NIS 2 billion in 2018.

At 11:00 this morning, a press conference will be held by the Prime Minister and the Welfare Minister, together with Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon. The three will speak to the media on the issue of the disabled.

Raising disabled allowances will take place in four stages, two of which will be in 2018. The government bill will also include the elderly disabled, the blind, and disabled children.

Disabled Israelis have been blocked off major thoroughfares in recent months as part of their campaign to raise the monthly stipends they receive from the National Insurance Institute from NIS 2,342 to the minimum wage of NIS 5,000.

An agreement reached in September mandated that the benefits will increase beginning January 2018, and the pension will be linked to national wage.
