Israel's Water Authority on Monday morning announced that 20-30 millimeters of rain fell overnight in Israel's Golan and Upper Galilee regions.
As a result, the Kinneret's (Sea of Galilee) water level rose one centimeter, bringing it to 1.365 meters ( 4'5") from the lower red line and 5.565 meters (18'3") from the lake's maximum capacity.
Approximately fifteen centimeters (5.9") of snow gathered on Mount Hermon's upper slopes, and 8 centimeters (3.14") fell on the mountain's lower slopes. However, Mount Hermon's management said the site would not be open to visitors due to heavy fog and continued snowfall.
On Monday afternoon, rainfall which has previously centered in Israel's north and along the coastline will spread to the country's center and Negev, meteorologists predicted.
There may be flooding along Israel's coast, as well as in Israel's eastern valleys and southern region. Snow will fall in the Hermon, and temperatures will be lower than the seasonal average. There may be dust storms in the Negev.
The rain is expected to lighten over the course of Monday evening. Monday night will be cloudy, and light local rain is expected to continue falling throughout the country. There may be flooding in Israel's south and its eastern wadis.
Tuesday will be cloudy, with light local rainfall expected in Israel's north and center. Temperatures will rise slightly, but will remain lower than the seasonal average. There may be snow in the Hermon.
Wednesday's weather will be partly cloudy, with an additional rise in temperature. Light local rains may fall in Israel's northern regions.
On Thursday, rain is expected to fall in Israel's north and along the coastal plains. There may be a few thunderstorms. In Israel's center and the northern Negev, there may be light local rains. Flooding may occur along Israel's coastline and in the eastern valleys, and snow is expected to fall in the Hermon.
News broadcasters have noted that the lack of precipitation until this week prompted the Chief Rabbinate to hold a mass prayer for rain at the Western Wall just one week ago.
