One killed, two seriously injured in Jerusalem accident

Accident involved two private cars and motorcycle. Bezalel Bazak Street blocked by police.

A 30-year-old man was killed and five others were injured in a car accident today (Monday) at Bezalel Bazak Street near the Jerusalem Botanical Garden.

The accident involved two private cars and a motorcycle. The road was blocked by the police.

MDA teams gave initial treatment to the injured and evacuated two patients to Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Ein Karem hospitals, three of them lightly injured.

MDA paramedics Ram Naimi and Itzik Aseraf who treated the wounded said: "This is a very serious car accident between a private car and a motorcycle with 2 riders. The motorcyclist was found unconscious, without a pulse or breathing; we tried to give him medical treatment but he had no vital signs and shortly thereafter his death was declared. The second rider who was severely injured suffered abdominal trauma and was evacuated quickly to Shaare Zedek Hospital. The driver of the private vehicle, a 30-year-old man who was wounded in the head, was treated at the scene and evacuated in serious condition to Shaare Zedek Hospital."

The two added that "a few dozen meters away from the scene of the accident there was another accident between two vehicles, three of the passengers were treated at the scene and evacuated to hospitals in the city."
