An IDF tank attacked an observation post of the Hamas terrorist organization in southern Gaza on Sunday evening.
The attack came in response to a rocket that was fired toward Israeli territory earlier in the evening.
The IDF said that after a search of the area, it had determined that the rocket exploded on the Gazan side of the border fence and not in Israeli territory.
On Saturday night at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Red Alert rocket siren was sounded in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. An IDF investigation revealed that it was a false alarm and that no rocket had been fired into Israeli territory.
