United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Israel Sunday, ahead of his planned visit to Jerusalem on Monday.
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon greeted Guterres at the airport.
"We welcome you to Israel," Danon told Guterres. "We look forward to showing you our country, an island of stability and prosperity in a tumultuous region," he continued.
After his visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum in Jerusalem Monday morning, Secretary-General Guterres is slated to meet with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
On Monday evening, the Secretary-General is scheduled to attend, a special showcase of Israeli innovation at the Israel Museum in the capital, along with Prime Minister Netanyahu and Ambassador Danon.
