Police in the coastal city of Ashkelon arrested a suspect Sunday afternoon connected to extensive security measures taking place in the southern town over the last few hours.

Large police forces were deployed in Ashkelon after a report of an illegal Arab infiltrator seen in the city. Now that the suspect is arrested, the police alert announced Sunday afternoon in the town has been lifted.

After an hour-long search by the Shin Bet internal security agency (ISA) and police, the suspect, an Arab resident of Hevron, was located at the outskirts of Ashkelon and detained. The suspect is being questioned by police and security officials.
