A 40-year-old man was killed on Monday afternoon when a refrigerator fell on him in a Rishon Lezion stairwell.
Initial investigations show the man was helping his friend lift the refrigerator at approximately 2:30p.m. when the appliance slipped out of their grasp and crushed him to death.
Paramedics who arrived on the scene found the victim suffering from head trauma and injuries to multiple bodily systems. After a few minutes they were forced to declare his death.
United Hatzalah paramdeic Shlomi Ben-Ami, who arrived at the scene, said, "When I arrived at the scene of the emergency I found a man who was unconscious. He had sustained severe head trauma after a refrigerator fell on him in the stairwell of the apartment building."
"Unfortunately, due to the severity of his injury, the response teams here were forced to pronounce his death at the scene."
Israel Police are currently investigating the incident.
