Jewish Home Chairman and Education Minister Naftali Bennett slammed a number of Arab MKs in a speech at the Knesset plenum addressing the recent violence over the Temple Mount.

Bennett accused the Arab MKs of engaging in an anti-Semitic blood libel against Jews. "A hand stirred up a tempest, and it is the invisible hand of a number of the leaders of the Israeli Arabs, from Raed Salah to Ahmad Tibi and Haneen Zoabi. There are people here who are fulminating a blood libel against the Jewish people." Raed Salah heads the illegal northern branch of the Islamist Movement, while Tibi and Zoabi are Arab anti-Zionist MKs.

"Why don't you tell the public the truth?" Bennett demanded of the Arab MKs. "The Temple Mount is open, the State of Israel maintains security and there is no attempt on Israel's part to change anything."

Bennett added that he fully supports Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's handling of the crisis.

He also addressed Turkish President Recep Erdogan's efforts to insert himself into the Temple Mount issue. "Your internal problems should be resolved on your own, not on the back of the State of Israel," Bennett told Erdogan.

Israel had installed advanced metal detectors("magnetometers") at entrances to the Temple Mount after the July 14 Temple Mount shooting terror attack during which two Druze policemen were murdered. However, after Arab riots and negotiations with Jordan, Israel removed the metal detectors from the site yesterday and plans to use other more advanced technology to guard the site.
