President Trump ripped two MSNBC hosts Thursday, after one of the hosts suggested the president was mentally unbalanced, and called upon members of the cabinet to confront him.

Former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, fiancés who cohost MSNBC’s Morning Joe program, who once were on friendly terms with the president, lambasted him on Thursday, calling into question his mental fitness for the office and suggesting administration officials ought to confront the president.

Brzezinski, daughter of former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, launched into a lengthy diatribe against Trump, saying the president was “out of his mind”.

“Everybody in Washington, in the administration, needs to look at this from, I think, a point of view where they’re not lobotomized because you’re sitting in there and you’re so scared of him, and you think you need to suck up to the president,” Brzezinski said. “You need to look at this like any company.”

“Let’s say someone came into NBC and took over NBC, and started tweeting wildly about people’s appearances, bullying people, talking about people in the competition, lying every day, undermining his managers… that person would be thrown out. It’s just not normal behavior. In fact, there would be concerns that the person who runs the company is out of his mind.”

After the segment aired, White House Social Media Director Dan Scavino excoriated the MSNBC hosts, calling the pair “unhinged”.

“#DumbAsARockMika and lover #JealousJoe are lost, confused & saddened since @POTUS @realDonaldTrump stopped returning their calls! Unhinged.”

Later, PresidentTrump responded with a pair of tweets, bashing both Morning Joe and its hosts.

“I heard poorly rated Morning Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low IQ Crazy Mika, along with Pyscho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”

Minutes later, Brzezinski responded to Trump’s comments, tweeting a picture of a Cheerios box featuring the words “Made For Little Hands” – an allusion to an attack by 2016 Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio against Trump during the Republican primaries.

“You know what they say about men with small hands,” Rubio said during a February 2016 rally.
