U.S. President Donald Trump issued a statement on Wednesday following the terrorist attacks in Tehran.
"We grieve and pray for the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks in Iran, and for the Iranian people, who are going through such challenging times," Trump stated.
At the same time, he added, "We underscore that states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote."
13 people were killed in the attacks that targeted the Iranian parliament and the mausoleum shrine of Iranian revolutionary leader Ruhollah Khomeini.
The attacks were claimed by the Islamic State (ISIS) jihadist group, marking the first time they had claimed an attack inside Iran.
