The evidence stage of the trial of Sgt. Elor Azariya has come to an end, with the prosecution finishing its questioning of pathologist, Dr. Hadas Gips.
21 witnesses for the prosecution and 31 witnesses for the defense presented their evidence to the judges presiding over the case. Both sides will submit written summaries to the court in the coming weeks, and in three weeks' time the final discussion will take place, after which the judges will decide Azaria's fate.
Judges from the military court in Yafo discussed today Azariya's request to be released from custody and be allowed to go home during the weekends until his verdict is announced. The defense is attempting to reach an agreement with the military on this matter.
Azariya is on trial for shooting and allegedly killing an already wounded terrorist who carried out a stabbing attack in Hevron earlier this year.
