For the first time in 21 years the annual rally in memory of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin will not take place this year.

The rally's organizers made the decision to cancel the event in Rabin Square, which was scheduled for Saturday night, after being unable to raise the funds necessary to cover the cost of the rally.

One of the rally's chief organizers, retired IAF general Asaf Agmon, told Chanel 2, "I took it upon myself to hold the rally, including raising the necessary budget. But,unfortunately, we were forced to cancel the rally in memory of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin when there were not enough donors to cover the costs of the coverage. It is a stain on the history of Israel."

Another one of the rally's organizers, Hami Sal, said "As someone who has attended the annual rally in memory of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin for the last 20 years, it is incomprehensible to me that there will be no traditionally rally in Rabin Square this year."

"Precisely now, when the voices of incitement and division are on the rise in Israeli society, this is the time when we should fill Rabin Square. We would like to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, those donors who mobilized to help, the Tel Aviv police force, the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality, and all the people who volunteered to speak and perform at the rally and to show their support.

Yitzhak Rabin was the only Israeli Prime Minister to be assassinated while in office.
