Israeli windsurfer Maayan Davidovich on Sunday was unable to win a medal at the Rio Olympics, coming in ninth place in the final competition.

Lilian De Geus of the Netherlands came in first, completing the laps 21 minutes and 28 seconds. Davidovich timed at 24 minutes and 46 seconds.

She had come in fifth and twice in second place in her three qualifier rounds ahead of Sunday's final.

Had Davidovich won a medal, it would have been Israel's third medal in the Rio Olympics, after winning two last week.

Judoka Yarden Gerbi was the first winner, winning a bronze medal after defeating Japan's Miku Tashiro in the women's Judo under 63 kg category.

She was followed on Friday by judoka Or Sasson, who won another bronze medal after winning a consolation round in the men's 100 kilogram plus weight class.

Despite the disappointment of Davidovich having missed out on a medal, her sister said she was proud of her on Sunday evening.

“She went to win a medal, I believe she will go to Tokyo as well. We are proud of her,” the sister told Ma'ariv.
