In a joint operation involving the IDF, the Shin Bet, and the Israel police, terrorist Ahmed Abu Rub of Qabatiya was arrested as part of the security forces' routine counter-terrorism operations.

The terrorist, who is affiliated with the Islamic Jihad terror group, was involved in the planning of a shooting attack on an IDF checkpoint in Samaria, keeping in contact with elements of the Islamic Jihad command in Gaza.

IDF forces arrested 13 Arab suspects overnight (Tuesday night) throughout Judea and Samaria. Four of those arrested are suspected of involvement in rock throwing and violent disturbance of the peace.

Last Friday an indictment was filed against terrorist Ali Abu Hassan, a 20-year-old student from Beit Ula in the Hevron area. Abu Hassan had attempted a serious bombing attack on the Jerusalem light rail. He said he wanted to "avenge" the fact that tourists and Jews have been visiting the Temple Mount.

Abu Hassan is a civil engineering student in the University of Hevron, and had built a bomb which he was carrying in a backpack with the intention of detonating it on the train to murder as many Jews as possible, before being spotted and neutralized by alert light rail security personnel.
