Hamas digs 10 kilometers (approximately 6 miles) in tunnels leading into Israel every month, a senior security official said Wednesday, according to Channel 2 News.

According to the official, despite the collapses of tunnels in Gaza in recent months, the threat of the tunnels is still very much real and has even worsened.

Meanwhile, a senior diplomatic source quoted by Channel 2 said that there is no perfect solution to the problem of Hamas's tunnels, and that other countries in the world have failed to come up with a solution.

Hamas has been busily reconstructing its terror tunnel network breaching into Israeli territory, and after one of the collapses, some media reports speculated that a secret Israeli weapon - and not heavy rains - was responsible for the cave-ins.

Back in February the IDF warned that Hamas appears to be focusing its efforts on one central tunnel breaching deep into sovereign Israel to facilitate attacks on civilians. Reportedly 1,000 Hamas terrorists are working on the major tunnel.
