Republican presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump has announced Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his Vice President candidate.

Trump made the announcement on his Twitter account Friday, and said a press conference would take place Saturday, at which the VP pick would be formally announced:

I am pleased to announce that I have chosen Governor Mike Pence as my Vice Presidential running mate. News conference tomorrow at 11:00 A.M.

Pence was long presumed to be Trump's favored choice for a running mate in November's presidential elections.

The GOP candidate had also reportedly been mulling New Jersey Governor and former rival Chris Christie, as well as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Trump had planned to hold the press conference Friday, but postponed it due to the deadly terrorist attack in Nice, France.
