Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has hinted at possible major political scandals to come, telling an audience in Tel Aviv that Israeli police are investigating a number of "sensitive affairs."
Speaking to attorneys at the launch of a Prosecutor's Forum, Mandelblit appeared to imply that recent corruption scandals may just be the tip of the iceberg.
He said that at the start of his role earlier this year, he approved several police investigations into "sensitive affairs - some of which you have heard and others, not."
He stressed that the decision to open a file was totally impartial, and made on the basis of evidence presented to him by police investigators.
The AG also related to the State Comptroller's report on alleged financial misdemeanors by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, telling the audience he was still analyzing all the material handed to him by the Comptroller.
"From the moment I entered this role I asked for time to examine the materials related to this subject," he said, adding that the evidence must be examined "without delay, with discretion and professionalism."
