The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) voted Thursday to compile an annually updated “blacklist” of Israeli and international companies that conduct business in Judea and Samaria, the Biblical heartland of Israel.

“When the UN marks Jewish business so that they can be boycotted it reminds us of dark times in the history. The Human Rights Council has turned into an accomplice of the BDS movement and its conduct is both anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic,” said Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon.

“This is what the Human Rights Council chooses to debate while Europe is still reeling from a wave of terror attacks perpetrated by ISIS – the world’s worst human rights violator,” criticized Danon.

The UNHRC was created to protect human rights around the world, and its deliberations are built from a number of agenda items focusing on different topics. The decision to create a blacklist was taken as part of Chapter Seven on the UNHRC’s agenda – the chapter’s sole focus is Israel.

“Hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians are murdered and forced to flee their homes as refugees and they choose to condemn Israel – the only democracy in the Middle East.  This can only be described as record-breaking hypocrisy,” the Ambassador said.

Danon also criticized on Thursday what he calls another example of the international body's hypocrisy against the world's only Jewish state, after the UN Commission on Status of Women passed only one political resolution - to blame Israel for the mistreatment of Palestinian women.
