The Coalition Management confirmed on Monday an agreement reached between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the heads of Israel's coalition parties to formulate a new bill allowing the Knesset to suspend an MK due to improper conduct.

The suspension would come into effect if a wide majority of 90 out of the total 120 MKs support it, in a similar mechanism to the current law to suspend a President, Knesset Speaker or Deputy Knesset Speaker.

It was decided by the Coalition Management to promote the law through the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee.

Netanyahu's bill is an effort to take action against Arab MKs Hanin Zoabi, Jamal Zahalka and Basel Ghattas of the Joint List's Balad faction, who raised outrage last week after they met with the families of Arab terrorists.

Although an agreement between Netanyahu and party heads was reached Sunday, the so-called "Suspension Law" does not have the full backing of all coalition MKs.

Jewish Home MK Bezalel Smotrich panned the law earlier on Monday, asserting it could too easily be used to oust any Knesset member deemed "too extreme" to serve in Israel's parliament.

At the Likud faction meeting Monday, Netanyahu praised the Coalition Management's decision, asserting, "I support [this law] because it is necessary to observe the rules of behavior. Democracy must defend itself."
