Terror victim Shaul Nir remains in serious condition on Thursday morning, Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva reported.

Shaul and his wife Rachel were both injured in the shooting attack near Avnei Hefetz in Samaria on Wednesday evening.

Rachel, initially treated at Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba, was transferred to Beilinson to be with her husband during the night. She is in satisfactory condition.

An initial investigation at the scene of the attack reveals that one of the bullets fired by terrorists at the couple's car hit a ten shekel coin, while another bullet struck a water bottle in the vehicle.

The presence of these objects may have prevented a more serious injury to the Nirs, security forces said.

The attack itself occurred at around 7:30 pm Wednesday on the access road between Avnei Hefetz and Einav. The couple was leaving the town after lighting Hanukkah candles with their daughter, Livnat Ozeri, as well as various grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Livnat is the widow of Nati Ozeri, who was killed in a terror attack 13 years ago in the Givat Harsina neighborhood of Kiryat Arba.

In that attack, two terrorists infiltrated the family's home, murdered Nati and injured three others, including one of the Ozeris' children.
