The Knesset plenum began on Wednesday afternoon the arduous process of approving the state budget for 2015-2016.

Over the next several hours, MKs will vote on hundreds of objections and reservations brought by the opposition relating to the state budget. As such, voting is expected to continue into Thursday morning.

All 120 MKs were in attendance, including Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, for fear of losing the slim majority held by the coalition.

The new computerized voting system suffered technical malfunctions, and the coalition lost one vote because several new computers were reportedly not functioning properly.

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein had the system fixed and the vote re-done, amid resistance from the opposition.

Although chances of this are slim, if by Thursday at midnight the Knesset does not pass a final budget, there must be new elections within three months.
