A video recently posted to the internet shows up close a barrel bomb attack on a built-up area in Darayya, Syria.

The video, which was disseminated Monday by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), shows a helicopter dropping two bombs. The video, filmed from a balcony, captures the moment of the two explosions. Immediately afterwards, the balcony and all the surroundings are covered in billowing smoke.

Barrel bombs are crude weapons -- containers packed with explosives and scrap metal that are typically dropped from helicopters.

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad has repeatedly denied using barrel bombs and has claimed in interviews that no such weaponry exists. The West, for its part, notes that only the regime has helicopters from which these weapons are dropped.
