Searches for an Israeli man missing in the Ukrainian city of Uman have increased Wednesday, with local patrols and rescue services focusing on finding a body.

The yet-unnamed Israeli was one of 45,000 estimated to have traveled to the city for the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

Uman is the origin of Breslev leader Rabbi Nachman, and pilgrimages to the site have become a tradition over the High Holidays as a sign of faith and good fortune for the upcoming year.

Ukrainian authorities have focused on a nearby lake in their search; a diving team has been dispatched. Extensive searches were also conducted in fields near the lake.

At the same time, a prayer rally for the man's safe return has been held.
