Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon condemned on Tuesday the fatal rock attack as well as continued disturbances in eastern Jerusalem over the two-day Rosh Hashanah holiday.

Jerusalem resident Alexander Levlovitz, 64, was fatally injured on Sunday when his car spiralled out of control after being hit by rocks in the capital's Armon Hanatziv neighborhood

In addition, Islamist rioters and Israeli security forces violently clashed on the Temple Mount and in the surrounding Old City for a third straight day on Tuesday.

"The struggle against terrorism, including rock-throwing, firebombing and attempts to disrupt public order, requires us to be both determined and unrelenting on the operational, intelligence and legal sphere," Yaalon declared.

"This is how we have acted, and will continue to do so with all the means at our disposal," he added.

The Defense Minister stressed that a situation in which Israeli citizens, particularly in Jerusalem and Judea-Samaria, are being threatened by rock-throwing, is intolerable.

"We will not allow any force whatsoever, whether it does so at its own instigation or in an organized fashion, to disrupt the everyday life of citizens in Israel," Yaalon vowed.

"We will continue to pursue and punish terrorists. We will act with zero tolerance toward anyone who threatens the security of the citizens of Israel, IDf soldiers, Israeli policemen and Border Patrol guards," he concluded.
