Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's carefully crafted waft of hair that forms a delicate cloud over his forehead has long raised suspicions - on Thursday he decided to put the rumors to rest and prove that his hair is, in fact, his own.

At a rally in South Carolina, an irate Trump responded to a question regarding his coiffed locks with dramatic action, saying, "I don't wear a toupee, it's my hair, I swear. We are going to settle this."

In a surprising and theatrical move, he called on a woman from the audience to come up on stage and silence his hair critics.

"You're going to have to do an inspection. This is getting crazy. Just real quick," said Trump.

However, he asked for her to go easy on him, saying, "we don't want to mess it up too much because I do use hairspray."

Once on stage, the woman gave Trump's hair a quick pull. After he asked her to let the audience know if the hair is his or not, she said, "yes, I believe it is."

Trump's antics and uncensored style of speaking have put him in the lead of the Republican race for now, with a new Quinnipiac University poll showing the real estate mogul jumping to 28% support as compared to 20% in July.
