Less than an hour after the stabbing attack at a gas station near Beit Horon on Highway 443 northwest of Jerusalem on Sunday night, in which a 26-year-old was lightly wounded and the Arab terrorist was eliminated, MK Oren Hazan (Likud) and nationalist activist Baruch Marzel arrived on the scene.
Both Hazan and Marzel, who just missed out in the last elections as a candidate for Otzma Yehudit, spoke to Arutz Sheva about the connection between the attack and the Supreme Court demolition orders against Ayelet Hashahar Synagogue in nearby Givat Ze'ev. Those demolition orders were postponed on Sunday against the synagogue, which has stood for 20 years and has documents proving the land purchase from previous owners.
"We arrived here to the region, we came down from Givat Ze'ev from the good tidings at the synagogue," said Hazan. "I'm happy that here too there are good tidings, at this place, the situation ended in a miracle."
The MK warned, "friends we need to wake up. The intifada on hitchhiking stations is spreading out to all corners; attacks in all corners, from morning to night, and we're busy with wars between us and ourselves."
"The time has come for us as leaders to take responsibility, to stop fighting among ourselves and to understand that there's an enemy here rising against us."
Marzel also commented on the demolition orders, saying, "we see that always when the government of Israel and the Supreme Court makes 'gestures' to the Arabs - they want to demolish a synagogue not far from here and give the land to Arabs who it doesn't belong to - every concession brings terror attacks, it brings disasters."
"They opened the highway and made gestures, and the 'thank you' of the enemy comes in the form of stabbing Jews, attempts to slaughter Jews," said Marzel.
He concluded wryly: "we can't give in to them, we can't give them anything - other than a strong blow to the head."
