Justice Minister Tzipi Livni (Hatnua) reacted Wednesday to the arrest of a pregnant woman on suspicion of incitement against IDF soldiers, by making generalizations against the settlement enterprise.

"It seems that part of the settlement enterprise has risen up against its makers,” she wrote on Facebook. “What began as love of the land has now partly turned into a wild west sown with hatred toward Arabs and toward the rule of law and its representatives – be they dressed in judges' robes, police uniforms or IDF uniforms.”

"Denunciation, enforcement and punishment are necessary vis-a-vis the criminals, but they are not enough,” she went on. “It is not enough to be shocked by this terrible extremism and to shut our eyes to the other ideological element: those who rightly denounce 'Price Tag,' but will do everything to find every loophole and political weakness in order to keep us from a diplomatic solution, and do so while mortally wounding the world's relations with Israel.

"In the face of these,” she declared, “we – who want a Jewish and democratic state that is sane and connected to the world – must erect a strong Zionist public and political wall.”

The declaration could be seen as a hint that Livni is considering bowing out of the government, after the dismal failure of the "peace process" in which she had represented Israel.
