Israel held at least one other prisoner under the same conditions under which former Mossad agent Ben Zygier, also known as “Prisoner X,” was held, Yediot Aharonot reports. Zygier’s case made headlines in early 2013 when it was revealed that he had committed suicide in a top-security prison in 2010.

The second man was also held in a private cell in the Ayalon prison. His prison conditions were compared to those of Yigal Amir, who has spent over a decade in solitary confinement after killing former Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin.

No other details of the man's circumstances were released for publication.

Judge Dafna Baltman-Kadrai, who heard the case regarding Zygier’s death authorized the publication of the second man’s case.

Nobody faced charges for Zygier’s death. However, the Yediot Aharonot report revealed that a police investigation found Prison Services officers had made repeated mistakes that allowed Zygier to put an end to his life.

Zygier was supposed to be under constant watch, but managed to commit suicide in the bathroom. The charges against him have not been revealed, although several theories have been raised.
