A rabbi and his son were attacked Tuesday in the Jewish quarter of Paris, according to Le Monde. The attacker is an Iranian who had escaped from a mental health hospital.

The two were reportedly wounded in the neck, after apparently being stabbed with a knife. Their condition was not clear, according to the report.

Eyewitnesses reportedly overpowered the assailant and held on to him until the authorities arrived on the scene.

Police said the attacker is a resident of Tehran and does not have a criminal record. However, it seems that he was hospitalized after attempting to destroy the astronomical clock at the church in Lyons.
