For the second time in six years, the United States has urged Mideast elections, and for the second time, a terrorist party is likely to win.

In 2005, then-U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was awakened in the middle of the night with shocking news that was no surprise to Israel – the Hamas terrorist organization had won the first-ever democratic legislative elections in the Palestinian Authority.

Rice had pushed for the elections as a step towards a democratic Middle East, where Israel remains the only democracy. Elections elsewhere in the Middle East, including Egypt, previously have been staged shows to camouflage dictatorships.

Voting for a new parliament in Egypt began Monday, and the Muslim Brotherhood is expected to win a least a plurality if not an absolute majority.

Unlike Hamas, the United States has not designated the Brotherhood as an illegal terrorist group, but its closeness to Hamas is revealed by the fact the Brotherhood was the organization that created Hamas.

The Brotherhood and Hamas also share the same careful long-term planning for power through ”democracy” that rests behind their short-term tactics of threats of terror to take power. “This campaign for us has been 80 years long," a volunteer from Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood told the British Guardian.

Like Hamas, the Brotherhood knows when to put on a pose of civility. After radicalizing and inciting Egyptian society against the United States and Israel, it was in the forefront of the Tahrir Square Arab Spring that ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

But with the smell of an election victory in the air, the Brotherhood last week stayed way from violent clashes with the autocratic provisional military regime. “We need a peaceful transition to civilian rule," a senior Muslim Brotherhood official, Mohammed el-Beltagi, told the British newspaper.

The Obama administration apparently did not know what it was asking for when it urged Mubarak to step down and allow democratic elections, because the foundations of the Brotherhood are anything but democratic.

It now runs under the “Freedom and Justice Party,” all of whom are former members of the Islamic religious authority in the Brotherhood.

The Brotherhood’s motto since it was founded 83 years ago is "Islam is the solution” and that the Koran and the Prophet Mohammad are "the sole reference point for the life of the Muslim family, individual, community, and state."

The prospect of Sharia law in Egypt – and certain change for the worse in relations with Israel – will be welcomed by Hamas in Gaza.

Hamas spokesman Taher al-Nunu has said, "We have the same ethics as the Muslim Brotherhood; the principles are the same."

Faced with the reality of an Egypt dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood, the Obama administration has decided to “engage” its leaders and reverse the previously policy of boycotting meetings with the Muslim Brotherhood except for its elected legislators.

U.S. government officials got the message loud and clear, as seen by appeasement efforts to satisfy Islamic demands.

On October 19, Department of Justice Officials [DOJ] joined… others at the George Washington University Law School where the Muslim Brotherhood leader demanded to see: Increased interfaith education and programming at the local level; and tangible steps taken by the government to investigate and eradicate discriminatory FBI training practices. This is the Muslim Brotherhood giving DOJ its marching orders,” reported the BigPeace.com website.

The website continued, “At this conference, Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole confirmed President Obama’s administration was eliminating all training materials used for the law enforcement and national security communities referencing Islam because some “Muslim groups” (read: Muslim Brotherhood) claim the training is offensive (a violation of the Islamic Law of Slander)."

“In fact, FBI agents across the country who train other agents and FBI employees on these matters are now, today, being ordered to whitewash their fact/evidence-based presentations on the Muslim Brotherhood’s movement, and Islamic doctrine (Shariah), the ideology which drives 'terrorists,' the MB, and the like. …

“The Department of Justice and FBI ordering their employees to disregard facts in order to keep from ‘offending’ known terrorist organizations is not only ‘Obstruction of Justice’ it constitutes ‘Material Support of Terrorism.’”
