The Magistrates' Court in Petach Tikva extended Tuesday the remand of a suspect in the arson at a Galilee mosque on October 3, as the investigation of the case continues. The suspect is an 18 year old Jewish resident of Samaria. He was arrested on the day of the mosque attack, and his arrest has already been extended once before by the court.

However, Judge Nitza  Maimon Sha'ashua determined in her decision that there had been no development in the investigation since the first remand and that the case is "not ripe" for charges to be filed.

She also determined that unless there is a meaningful development in the investigation by Sunday, the court may decide to free the suspect.

Attorney Adi Keidar, who represents the suspect on behalf of Honenu, reacted by saying: "The arguments we raised since the first days [after the arrest – Ed.] are turning out to be true, and they have been stated sharply by the court."
