KeZohar Harakia Jewelry, an Israeli jewelry company, has come up with a very interesting line of jewels which include full texts of Jewish scriptures.
“We decided to take the holy Zohar, put it on microfilm and then put it into a jewel which combines gold and silver,” explained Shlomo Shushan of KeZohar Harakia Jewelry. “Along the way we made more jewels with the Likutey Moharan of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, the Book of Raziel the Angel, the book of Psalms, Chitat of Chabad, and a prayer of Rabbi Nachman for finding grace, which is on parchment and was written by a sofer stam.”
Shushan noted that this is only the beginning and that the company is planning on making more jewels with additional texts.
“We miniaturize everything into microfilm and put it inside the jewelry,” he said. “Our motto is that the real jewel is inside.”
According to Shushan, the response on all levels has been overwhelming.
“There is enthusiasm and interest,” he said. “We’re not simply selling another kabbalistic jewel because we don’t deal with kabbalah. Throughout the process we were accompanied by rabbis who directed us regarding the content. The content has two covers so one can enter places such as bathrooms without desecrating the sacred text. We’re set from a halakhic point of view.”
Each jewel is accompanied by a brochure which explains the topic, in both Hebrew and English. Shushan is hoping to implement more languages into the brochure in the future.
“These days when the people of Israel are in distress, we need protection, and what better to do than connect to the holy books and what is written in them,” he said.
