The World Likud is the international wing of the ruling Likud party, serving as an umbrella organization of Likud branches around the world.
The Likud party is descended politically from the Herut party formed by Menachem Begin, in the year of Israel's independence. It was established around a core of followers of Zionist luminary Ze'ev Jabotinsky.
Currently headed by MK Danny Danon, some of World Likud's former heads were Ambassador Eliyahu Ben Elisar, former MK Ronny Milo and Ambassador Zalman Shoval.
