Transportation Minister Merav Michaeli has announced that Highway 90 is to be upgraded between the Arava junction and Eilat - its entire length.
Her announcement follows a tragic accident that occurred on the road three days ago, in which four people lost their lives.
Highway 90 lacks a central barrier separating cars traveling in opposite directions, which has led to tragedy on many occasions.
Work is slated to begin this year on the entire 120km of the road, and will cost hundreds of millions of shekels.
