Saudi Arabia said a meeting between its Foreign Minister and his Iranian counterpart was not to be expected in the immediate future.
The Saudis said Iran had to prove its intentions and "built trust for future cooperation," before such a meeting could take place.
"A number of issues must be addressed in order to guarantee security in the region," read the statement.
