The British government approved the sale of Chelsea Football Club by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, after 19 years of Abramovich's control of the team.

“Last night the Government issued a licence that permits the sale of Chelsea," tweeted Nadine Dorries, the British cabinet minister in charge of sporting affairs, confirming that "proceeds from the sale will not benefit Abramovich or other sanctioned individuals.”

Abramovich has been rumored to be assisting with negotiation efforts with Ukraine.
